Rennie Harris University Hip Hop and Street Dance Certification
Prospective partners to support, house, and/or endorse the Rennie Harris Street Dance Teacher Certification Program include the Department of Theatre & Dance at the University of Colorado Boulder, and the Philadelphia Dance Company. Each institution presents the highest quality of professional dance performance and improves the skills of emerging and professional dancers and choreographers in a nurturing environment, while increasing the appreciation of dance among many communities. All are celebrated for their innovation, creativity and preservation of predominantly African-American traditions in dance.
For the past 10 years, Rennie Harris has been an Artist-in-Residence at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Over the course of his time teaching in the Department of Dance & Theatre, he has worked closely with Chair of the Department Erika Randall to create and approve a History of Hip-hop lecture and technique course. The institutional support of the department has been a resource in codifying the technique and history of Hip-hop within academia.
