"Africa in America" Professor Kara Mack

With this lecture series, every student will first learn the roots of dance in America and

its West/Central African roots. We will focus on timing, the space used within

polyrhythms and the essence of having musicality coming specifically from cultures and

ethnic groups that revolve around what I would like to call Polyrhythmic Life. Like Jazz

is founded on the ‘possibility’ - so how and what can we do to be able to discover the

possibility of movement and what are you doing with the opportunities given to you?
